Try increasing APARM(1) the preaverage time before FFT,
or/and
Decrease TIMERANG
or/and
specify only one IF
or/and
specify only one channel

My problem in FRPLT was partly a user error.
The inputs clearly say to set the TIMERANGE,
which I didn't do.  Now I only get the message

FRPLT1: Task FRPLT  (release of 31DEC01) begins
FRPLT1: You are using a non-standard program
FRPLT1: Plot fringe rate spectra
FRPLT1: FRPLIN: Parameter MXBUFF needs to be increased
FRPLT1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
FRPLT1: serpens      31DEC01 TST: Cpu=       0.0  Real=       0
AIPS 1: Resumes



which is a different problem.
