[daip] help setting up new aips hosts and data areas

hi, our 'aips manager' recently resigned his position here so i am
trying to understand the aips setup and procedure to add a new 
aips host and data area. i've used the notes in the AIPS Manager 
Frequent Questions posting to add the host (in this case the host
name is leavitt) and have attempted to define a user data area
on this host also using the instructions from the Frequent Questions 
posting. Aips will attempt to start on leavitt, but fails because:

START_AIPS: Enter your choice, or the word QUIT [default is 1]:
START_AIPS: Your initial AIPS printer is the HP in Duane machine room
START_AIPS:  - system name duaneps, AIPS type PS

START_AIPS: User data area assignments:
DADEVS.PL: This program is untested under Perl version 5.005
  (Using global default file /users1/casa/aips/DA00/DADEVS.LIST for
DADEVS.PL)
                  /AIPS/MENSAE_1 is currently unavailable.
                  /AIPS/LEAVITT_1 is currently unavailable.

START_AIPS: Cannot start AIPS because there are no defined data areas!
START_AIPS: (check DADEVS.LIST or .dadevs files, or AIPSASSN.\*)

can you provide a quick tutorial on the setup of the data areas or 
point me to the correct documentation? Thanks in advance.
