to have the links remade.

Hi Eric, 
Just a note - following only the instructions sent results in an error:

START_AIPS: You seem to be at a workstation called monk
path_to_aips/aips: /home/space1/aips/TVDEVS.SH: not found

The fix is trivial - the $AIPS_ROOT/TVDEVS.SH link needs to be updated:
cd $AIPS_ROOT; rm TVDEVS.SH;  
ln -s $AIPS_ROOT/31DEC00/SYSTEM/UNIX/TVDEVS.SH

I'm not sure if this is generally valid...
