In principle, there should be some advantage in computing the master images
on an Intel IA32 machine since some of the calculations will be done using
80-bit precision which is usually (but not always) an advantage. The catch
is that GCC executables show some flakiness in floating-point behaviour
when optimization is turned on.

I suspect that the reference images should be computed on Intel using a
special installation with optimization off.
