Chris - SMOTH worked well a few months ago . there has been the
old message about vaxes etc for years - it had indeed worked under
unix for years.
I use it quite often -
there are a number of times that it can be more useful than CONVL .
( small images , optical images with unknown resolutions etc ) .
It now fails on tst , new and old :
