[daip] Serious mnj bug!!

The following caused me to look at the mnj on ohsumi. I found that
AFILE.FOR was not updated - but all LAST*DAT* files were updated to
20000713. I cannot see why permission was denied - the file has only
444 on it but is owned by aipsmgr in the aipspgmr group, the directory
has write privilege only for aipsmgr.

The MNJ report says:

UPDCOPYSUB: Copy of /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: to      ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: failed after 5 attempts.
UPDCOPYSUB: restoring /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR from /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PG
M/NOTST/AFILE.FOR.old
UPDCOPY : Failed to copy /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR to /AIPS/31DEC99/APL
/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: Copied /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/OOP/INDXR.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: to     ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/OOP/INDXR.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: Copied /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/OOP/PLAYR.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: to     ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/OOP/PLAYR.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: Copied /AIPS/31DEC99/DOC/TEXT/USERNO.LIS
UPDCOPYSUB: to     ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/DOC/TEXT/USERNO.LIS
UPDCOPYSUB: Copied /AIPS/31DEC99/HIST/CHANGE.DOC
UPDCOPYSUB: to     ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/HIST/CHANGE.DOC
UPDCOPYSUB: Copied /AIPS/31DEC99/SYSTEM/UNIX/UPDATE/UPDCONFIG
UPDCOPYSUB: to     ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/SYSTEM/UNIX/UPDATE/UPDCONFIG

The err file says
$ more UPD20000713.ERR
UPDCOPYSUB: Copy of /AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: to      ohsumi:/AIPS/31DEC99/APL/PGM/NOTST/AFILE.FOR
UPDCOPYSUB: failed after 5 attempts.
$

This makes me think that we cannot depend on any of the current
contents of the source code anywhere. I would guess that the
"restoring" operation resets the error code so that the higher level
proc does not know that UPDCOPYSUB has failed. I desperately need a
fix for this bug and a procedure that will let me run a global diff
across architectures here (with 3 copies of the text, one should be
ok). The alternative is to delete all copies of 31DEC99 in the AOC
and reinstall from scratch. I will begin that operation on Monday if
nothing has been done. This will terminate all data reduction in the
aoc for days.
