It looks as if the FITS header might be trashed. EQUINOX should have a
simple numeric value (like 2000.0) but this message indicates that it
either has a non-numeric value or has a value with a very large exponent.
CRVAL1 appears to suffer from a similar problem.

The only thing I can suggest is to (carefully) edit the FITS header using
emacs; be careful not to change the total number of characters in any
section of the header. It is possible that this might not help much. If
numbers have been trashed in the FITS header, less obvious parts of the
file might also be trashed.
