I'd still like to see someone try gcc 2.95 and its companion g77 on AIPS.
My bet is that it'd work, with "issues". In other words, we might have to
futz with the compiler options or fix a Z routine here or there, but
hopefully nothing beyond that.
I'll repeat what Eric essentially said: do not use gcc 2.96 and its
companion version of g77 to build AIPS!
