Hi DiFX Users,
The next major DiFX release, 2.8.1, is coming soon, likely before the end of
2022. Some information about the release timescale and the changes that are
coming with it can be found on the DiFX wiki:
https://www.atnf.csiro.au/vlbi/dokuwiki/doku.php/difx/difx281planning
At this point, the 2.8 branch has been created, essentially by capturing a
snapshot of the main development "trunk". This was done after several months
of developers working to fix remainig issues. DiFX 2.8 is _not_ a stable
release and should not be used for production. DiFX 2.8.1 will be the first
stable release from the 2.8 branch. Prior to tagging the 2.8.1 release, we
will be in a test period. At this point I would invite interested users to
install the 2.8 branch and evaluate it. The more testing that can be done
before 2.8.1, the better the release will be.
To install, review instructions at:
https://www.atnf.csiro.au/vlbi/dokuwiki/doku.php/difx/installation
The tag name is DiFX-2.8.
Please direct any test results (good or bad) to difx-developers at nrao.edu .
Cheers,
Walter
