All,

Over the last couple weeks, there has been a noticeable uptick in the COVID cases at the VLA, DSOC and the NAO.  Some trends:

  *   The most common symptoms include cold/flu/allergy responses
  *   Typical scratchy or sore throat
  *   Several cases are unable to identify the source of the infection
  *   Usually associated with large gatherings
  *   At least one case that resulted from a workplace interaction

I want to remind you that if you are feeling unwell, stay home and use your sick leave.

I recognize that the Socorro and Bernalillo County levels as reported by the CDC does not currently require masking, however in response to site case increases, it is necessary to temporarily require the use of masks in NM at our NAO, VLA, and DSOC facilities beginning Thursday June 2 through June 10.  The goal is to provide an increased level of protection against the virus at our facilities in light of the levels of transmission we are experiencing.

There are no changes in protocols for handwashing, reporting illness, or physical distancing and this is not a requirement to expand our WFH.   Note that shared rides and shared offices will require masking and onsite events that have common food or drink are restricted during this period.  As this is a temporary masking measure for work in our facilities, any offsite activities are not covered by this requirement.
