From lappel at nrao.edu Fri Oct 2 12:16:08 2026 From: lappel at nrao.edu (Lori Appel) Date: Fri, 2 Oct 2026 16:16:08 +0000 Subject: [Nmsymp] =?iso-8859-1?q?42nd_annual_New_Mexico_Symposium=A0-_Fir?= =?iso-8859-1?q?st_Announcement?= Message-ID: Colleagues, The 42nd annual New Mexico Symposium will take place on Friday, November 20, 2026 at the Domenici Science Operations Center in Socorro, NM. Astronomers from New Mexico and surrounding states are cordially invited to attend the Symposium and, if they wish, to present their work. We expect to fill a full-day schedule with oral and poster presentations, from about 9:00am to 5:00pm. We particularly encourage students and young astronomers to use the Symposium as a forum to present ongoing astronomical research. The meeting website can be found at: http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/events/nmsymposium/2026/ Registration is now open until 1st November, 2026 (for in-person participation; it may close early when capacity of 100 participants is significantly exceeded). You can register through the link given in the above website. After the Symposium, we will host the 61st annual Karl G. Jansky Lecture, this year given by Dr. John Carlstrom (University of Chicago) on "What Do We Know About The Big Bang?". The public lecture is free to attend. Please distribute this announcement at your department and institution, to help us reach as wide an audience as possible.
