[MODEST] Announcement: MODEST-27 School + Conference ※ São Paulo, 5–16 July 2027 {External}

 Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce MODEST-27: Modelling and Observing DEnse STellar
systems 2027, which will take place at ICTP-SAIFR, on the campus of
IFT-UNESP in São Paulo, Brazil, from 5 to 16 July 2027.

MODEST-27 will consist of two consecutive events:

   - MODEST-27 School: 5–9 July 2027
   - MODEST-27 Conference: 12–16 July 2027


*MODEST-27 Conference*
This will be the 25th annual international conference in the MODEST
(Modeling and Observing DEnse STellar systems) meeting series, the first to
be hosted in Brazil and the second to be held in South America, following
MODEST-15 in 2015.
The conference aims to connect theoretical models and numerical simulations
with the rapidly growing wealth of astronomical observations. Topics will
include, among others:

   - numerical methods and simulations of dense stellar systems
   - formation and evolution of star clusters across cosmic time
   - observational properties and stellar populations of star clusters
   - binaries, higher-order multiples, and gravitational few-body dynamics
   - compact objects and gravitational wave sources
   - X-ray binaries, cataclysmic variables, millisecond pulsars, stellar
   transients, and other multi-messenger phenomena


Detailed information about the opening and closing dates for registration
and abstract submission will be announced soon.

*MODEST-27 School*
During the week preceding the conference, we will organize the MODEST-27
School, aimed primarily at advanced undergraduate, Master's, and PhD
students. The goal of the School is to provide a broad introduction to the
main physical processes governing the formation and evolution of stars and
stellar systems, with lectures and hands-on sessions covering stellar
evolution, stellar dynamics, and observational astronomy.
