Dear MODEST friends,
I'm forwarding below an email announcement of the release of
a software package for visualizations of N-body simulations
in the virtual world of Second Life. This package, AstroSim,
was created by Arturo Nakasone and co-workers from NII, Tokyo
(National Institute for Informatics). If you are interested
to hear more about this, you can contact Arturo directly, via
the information provided below, and/or attend our regular MICA
(http://www.mica-vw.org/) meetings in Second Life, an/or subscribe
to the email group for astrophysical simulations in virtual worlds,
"http://groups.google.com/group/micasimulations?hl=en"
Cheers,
Piet

Subject: About AstroSim v.1.0 Public Release
To: <micasimulations at googlegroups.com>
Dear all,
It is my pleasure to announce the formal release of AstroSim v.1.0 for
public testing! You can download the application in executable form at:
http://www.prendingerlab.net/globallab/?page_id=17
With this application, we provide two simulation data sets: a globular star
cluster with 1024 stars, and a small 8-body simulation. The instructions to
install the software are included in the README file. Also, we have included
a small user manual. We still have some bugs in the software, but all the
data sets provided with the application were tested and are working. If you
want to set your own data set, just replace the files with your own, using
the same format
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send them at
arturonakasone AT nii DOT ac DOT jp (replace AT with @ and DOT with .)
And if I am missing other channels of distribution (mailing lists), please
let me know
I hope you have a great experience testing AstroSim!
Best regards
Arturo
