Folks,

I wish everyone the happiest Christmas and a very successful New Year.

As you may have heard, the holography measurements at the ALMA Test
Facility in New Mexico have been going very well. There is still room to
improve, however, and we need to ensure the robustness of the system
before it goes to the OSF late in next year's first quarter. Darrel,
Robert and Jeff have led the efforts to their present state of success but
some areas still need understanding. The effort continues on 2 January,
again under Darrel's leadership at the ATF. Let's start the New Year on
our best foot--we're seeking a volunteer to help hone the performance of
the ALMA holography system at the ATF the week of 2 January.
Concurrently, of course, the prototype ALMA system is being readied on
both antennas, toward a goal of first fringes early in 2007. Please let
me know asap--all expenses will be paid by the Science IPT of course!

And many thanks to Darrel, Robert, Jeff and all the other members of the
science, computing, system engineering, front end, correlator and back end
ipts who have brought the system thus far over the past few months.

Best wishes,
Al
