The sidelobes need to be multiplied down by the autocorrelation
of the primary beam.  That means we have a beam optmization footprint
which is twice as big as the primary beam, but that it becomes
very small at the edge.   The increase by sqrt(2) is approximate for
a real primary beam, being derived from Gaussians, which never do have a
happy ending.
