Folks:

Here is how I understand the calibration session at this point. I'd like
to get final opinions etc. Stephane--if you have comments I can try to
put them together into an agenda with readings etc. links and circulate it.
You may know some more possible attendees...I have seen no agenda for the
FE meeting.

When: Wednesday afternoon 24 April 2002 2pm
Where: 'Small 1' at ALMA meeting place
Who: Guilloteau, Wootten, Conway (?), Mangum, Radford, Isaak, Pardo, Carter,
Myers, SSR members (?), Hasegawa (?), Morita (?), Tatematsu (?), Momose (?),
Handa (?)
- Wootten, Guiloteau: Calibration Group
- Kate Isaak: the 183 GHz systems at Cambridge: a project status report.
- Bill Shillue(?):http://www.cv.nrao.edu/~awootten/mmaimcal/photcalheb-660-2.pdf
An HHT test showing that there is more than enough power available to do
calibration with these photonic devices. There are a lot of
devils in the details of how one might make a useful system out of this."
There is a photonics discussion on 23 April at 2pm in 'Large'.
- Jeff Mangum: on the "dual-load calibration system"
- ??? on the receiver compression behaviour (a digest of the memo 401)
A copy of Tony Kerr's talk on this at the THz symposium is at:
ftp://cvftp.cv.nrao.edu/NRAO-staff/akerr/hdn/THz2002.vg1.pdf
which one of us could give--if Dick Plambeck will attend, he would be good for
this...does anyone know if he will attend (I sent him an email)?
- Matt Carter on the semi-transparent vane and ambient loads (Stephane,
duplicates a similar presentation in the "Receiver" meeting)
- Juan Pardo on WVR tests at SMA (Stephane)
- Juan Pardo on new ATM program (Stephane)
Other items:
- Single dish observation techniques
- Simon Radford on the nutating subreflector characteristics
- Mark Holdaway had a "confidential memo" with Lugetn and Freund on the
behaviour of the cancellation of atmospheric noise by wobbling and/or OTF.
This is quite useful stuff, but has not been published. Al can discuss this?
Mark will work on this to make it ALMA-applicable and finished.
- Guilloteau: Single dish observations
How do we do that without ACA (Discussion, following a short presentation
by Stephane)
- Guilloteau: Bandpass calibration: Discussion: specifications, goals, and
observing strategy.
(I have a short draft to be circulated with the meeting planning)
- Steve Myers: will attend

Clear skies,
Al
