Iterating somewhat on Mark's emphasis on phase fluctuations, we
should be able to derive semi-instantaneous measure of effective
phase function over the array from either astronomical measurements
or radiometer phase measurements.  A plot of
rms phase versus baseline length, for example.  The water
line radiometer data might be quite useful if the fluctuations
in the line brightness indeed translate to the phase delays as
we hope.  Alternatively, one can derive a similar plot from the
astronomical receiver outputs, but this would limited to the time
intervals when the array is looking at a calibrator.
