I agree with Randy's response, and particularly the last
paragraph is relevant.  Without the USB 2.0 speed, it won't work.  I
also worry about getting tied into their first spin of the hardware!  

Back when we started thinking about factoring the system into 4 parts,
I found some PC104/104+ boards with spartan-2 chips on them that seemed
applicable to this problem.  Maybe we should look for another vendor
to use to implement the same idea.
