Information about the USB 1.1 interface module that I mentioned at our
meeting, can be found at the following URL:

 http://www.gigatechnology.com/usbmodprod.html

Of the two modules shown on this page, the USBMOD2 is the one that I
would like to use. The self-contained module shown on the web page is
a small PCB, designed to be plugged into a standard 32-pin 600mil IC
socket. Presumably it could also be soldered directly onto another
PCB. The USB interface chip can also be bought separately, and
requires very few additonal components, so we have the option of
either buying the fully assembled daughter card shown on the web page,
or laying out the circuit ourself on the main PCB.

For initial testing I plan to get one of the fully assembled modules.
According to the above web page, one of these costs 50 Australian
dollars, and can be delivered internationally, either within 2 weeks,
for AU$10, or in 4 days for AU$40. Buying the USB chip separately (the
FT8U245AM), costs AU$10 (excluding shipping).

Assuming that whoever lays out the main PCB of the ccb would prefer to
mount the chip themselves, the total price for 1 complete module for
testing, plus say 3 USB interface chips for the final boards, should
be about AU$80, plus up to AU$40 for shipping.
