Hi Martin- thanks for the explanation.  I think we are entering into a
level of detail in the discussion which is well within the domain of
design decisions that are yours to make (not that we aren't happy to
consult- we are!)-- and you seem to have done your homework here, eg,
as regards the type of filter needed.  Our electronics experts may
have some further input. The relevant scientific specifications are:
a) that blanking times of up to 1 usec are acceptable; b) that there
is nothing interesting in the signal on timescales of that order
either; c) we can tolerate up to a few % loss of sensitivity due to
aliased signal and phase blanking, but not more than this (this isn't
independent of [a]).

Thanks also for checking on the prices.  I think that assuming some
reasonable filter exists, which seems to be is the case, your design
can proceed for the moment. I suggest we place this on hold and
discuss the specific video filtering strategy at our next videoconn.
