[fitsbits] FITS status ? {External}

Like most of you, I am marginally in category A.
Being retired, I dabble in some Chandra related things, very part time, on
the basis of a connection with the CXC here at CfA.
With the PBR as released right now, things look depressing,  with a 68% cut
to NASA  Astrophysics and 57% to NSF.
Sure, it isn't the final budget, but this year there are too many programs
that need a fight.
That said, Astropy sounds like an area that certainly needs attention.
