I just relalized that gs these days does no longer come with gif drivers
(because of a patent/lisence problem) - if you want that you need
to compile gs yourself with the gif driver (the source of which can
still be found on the Web) included. But why do you need gif? I have
not used this in years ... try jpeg or png (replace 'gif' by 'jpeg' above).
