FV 3.2 Release Announcement - 8 November 2002

Version 3.2 of the fv/POW software tool for viewing and editing any FITS
format file (images and tables) is now freely available from the HEASARC
(High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center) at:

              http://fv.gsfc.nasa.gov

Easy to install executable distributions are currently available for Linux
(PC or Mac), Mac OS-X, Solaris, OSF, and Windows (9*/ME/XP) platforms. FV
is a single, small executable file that has no dependencies on other data
analysis systems.

Some of the new features in this release of fv/POW are:

 - More 'short cut' action buttons have been added to the
Summary window to quickly perform common display operations.

 - 1-D spectra, 2-D images, or 3-D data cubes that are stored in a
single cell of vector table column can be plotted or displayed.

 - Images in the new FITS 'Tile Compressed' format can be displayed.

 - Hierarchical Grouping tables now contain an 'Open' button on each
row which can be used to open the corresponding group member file.
