Greetings.

I would like to encourage one and all to check out:
http://www.astro.yale.edu/yomama
to see the Yale Observatory iMAge Manipulation Application (YO MAMA).

It slices, it dices, it displays fits images using java. Available as
an application or as a server-side applet, it is an ideal introduction
to image manipulation and analysis for undergraduate education, as the
interface is entirely GUI, and useful for research due to its
versitility and ease of use.

YO MAMA does aperture photometry, centroiding, and plots radial
profiles. It can be used to create mosaics using drag and drop, color
mosaics, and export to jpeg with ease. Plus, all of your favorite
image reduction tools: dark subtraction, flatfielding, pixel math, and
stacking are available.

Go to: http://www.astro.yale.edu/yomama and check out the tutorial to
see all that YO MAMA has to offer. Its absolutely free, and really
easy to use.
