It has come to my attention that the fits Web pages found at
www.cv.nrao.edu did not refer to the most recent versions of the WCS
proposal.  Those versions may now be reached through that Web site but
I recommend using my site:
        http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/~egreisen
to address these papers.  Paper I is dated 7-Dec-2000 but wasonly made
available today.  It is a minor revision of the earlier version with
the addition od a means with which to associate a pixel regularization
matrix and a particular coordinate representation from the set of
multiple representations.  Paper II is a version from 7-Nov-2000 with
additional examples.  Mark is considering further examples of both
good and bad practise but is deferring the release of that text while
we await negotiations which apparently are going on.  Paper III is
known to need additional work (esp. Section 5) but I have received no
useful input and so I have not changed it since 13-Jan-2000.

If you have not read and considered these papers I urge you to fetch
the most recent copies and to do so.  The U.S., European, and Japanese
FITS Committees are considering voting on these matters in the next
few months.  It would be good if they could be voted upon before they
are > 10 years old!
