In radio astronomy, multi-gigabyte visibility (raw interferometer) are
not uncommon for the VLBA. Large images are also not unheard of, for
example a VLA image of M33 in HI which has been created is 4096x4096x256
(16GB), and it might be reimaged at 8192x8192x256 (64GB).
Of course these examples can be represented in FITS now without a 64-bit
type.
