What is the threshold between a "phase hop" vs. a "phase jump?"

And are the phase "hops and jumps" causing the "lumpy-bumpy" map effects 
with or without the "sideband flippers?"

And are the "amplitude hops" similar to earlier noted "shredded IF 
levels?" (one of my personal favorites)

I really am trying to sort this out :-)
