[evla-sw-discuss] Power outage tomorrow

K.Scott, would it be possible for you to only power up cpcc2 and leave cpcc1 off when the time comes today? After we see what we see, Kerry and/or I will let you know when to turn on cpcc1.

Here's why we want to do this:

This morning, after K.Scott initiated the CPCC shutdown, cpcc2 alerted both stage2 and stage3 smoke alarms and commenced the emergency powering down of the correlator. Luckily, the correlator was already powered down so this did not matter.

This is the second time this has happened; during the power outage of the evening of Dec 23, 2011, the same thing happened except in that case it was cpcc1 that did the smoke alarm reporting. When attempting to bring the system back up then, cpcc2 was not able to be remotely powered up (an unrelated issue that has since been fixed). cpcc1 should have been able to power up the correlator on its own but in this case could not; with cpcc2 still off, the false smoke alarms persisted and prevented cpcc1 from doing its job. It was not until Mike Revenell went out to the site and physically powered cpcc2 back on that we were able to start up the correlator.

Kerry and I were unsuccessful at trying to recreate the 2011 problem of the persistent smoke alarm when one CPCC was powered off.

Since we now have similar symptoms (both CPCCs powered down by shutdown script resulting in a smoke alarm condition), Kerry and I would like to see what happens when only one CPCC is powered back up. The smoke alarm should go away but, if it behaves like 2011, it won't.
