Sonja,

On the other hand, are you sure this is a good idea?  Because doing  
that will break up packages; for example, the VCI 'package' will now  
actually be separated in two.  I would think that the complete VCI  
package, including the JAXB generated code should be kept together.   
In my mind, java packages are arranged by function rather than how  
their code is generated.

But that's just my humble opinion :)
