   I doubt anyone cares but the below is misleading.  RPF stands for
Reverse Path First, it's used to prevent multicast forwarding loops.
With the rendezvous points still set on the switches pointing to the
routers it created an internal loop with packets potentially going
from the vla-switch to the vla-router and then back to the vla-switch.

   The switches now know they're adjacent to one another.

   I'd been optimistic this was the cause, particularly since the
event logs matched up so well with the previously known packet loss
on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

   It may be it was the cause of the gross problem but not the minor
problem.  I'm curious whether we'd have really noticed clear event errors
if it was at the level of 1 or 2 every day or less.  It may be the minor
problem always existed and is now slightly worse.
