    Undefined but possibly.   The client can be configured to send to an 
address which
in theory could be a multicast  ... I've never tried it.

    If the intent is to send these to a mcast group I suspect syslog may 
be an inferior
solution.

     Not really my area but it seems premature to discuss syslog in 
particular ...
it seems as if there's still some work to be done on fundamental issues 
of who
needs to see what when.
