A meta-comment that Gareth and I seem to have to bring up over and over
again - why not just figure out how to use the GBT M&C system for this?
Set that as the default choice and go with it until proven not to work.
It's an existing system that the Observatory has expertise in and will
have to continue to invest in.

It is clear from the GBT Commissioning Review this week that from now
on, the Director expects us to find solutions in common so if we choose
NOT to use the GBT M&C software, we had better have a very good reason.
