Given below is a report I've put together concerning MIB
RTOS candidates. I begin with 12 possibles and end with
3 plus a nod at VxWorks. We may want to discuss my
conclusions at the EVLA software meeting scheduled for
this Tuesday, 3/19 @ 11AM.

Also, just a reminder - Wind river will be here Tue,
3/19, @ 3PM in the Upper Conference Room with several demos.
See Kevin Ryan for more info on the Wind River visit.

RTOS candidates

I've taken as my starting point a reference to a very useful web page
passed to me by George Peck. The web page is offered by a company named
Altium and it presents a tool suite for the TriCore architecture, with
specific mention of the TC11IB chip. The URL for the web page is:

	 http://www.tasking.com/products/TriCore/index.html

About two-thirds of the way down the page there is a set of links to:

	RTOS partners
	In-Circuit Emulators/JTAG interfaces
	Debugger
	Evaluation Boards
	Consultancy & Training

Clicking on the "RTOS partners" link takes one to the URL:

	 http://www.tasking.com/products/TriCore/rtos.html

which presents a list of RTOSes for the TriCore architecture which have a
cooperative agreement with Altium's TriCore tool suite. The RTOSes listed
are:

Readily available:

  - Nucleus PLUS and Nucleus uiPLUS by Accelerated Technology, Inc
  - Rubus by Arcticus Systems
  - CMX-RTX by CMX Systems
  - OSE by OSE Systems
  - ERCOS by ETAS
  - osCAN by Vector Informatik
  - OSEKWorks by Wind River Systems

Under development:

  - ProOSEK by 3Soft
  - PXROS by HighTec GmbH
  - EUROS by Dr. Kaneff Engineering Consultants
  - uC/OS-II by Micrium
  - SSX5 by Live Devices

So, I began with a working list which reads as follows (in alphabetical
order):

  - CMX-RTX by CMX Systems
  - ERCOS by ETAS
  - uC/OS-II by Micrium
  - Nucleus PLUS and Nucleus uiPLUS by Accelerated Technology, Inc
  - osCAN by Vector Informatik
  - OSE by OSE Systems
  - OSEKWorks by Wind River Systems
  - PXROS by HighTec GmbH
  - Rubus by Arcticus Systems

plus an RTOS named ThreadX for which a reference was also passed to me by
George Peck,

plus the embedded Java systems which Kevin has been exploring:

  - Jbed by esmertec http://www.esmertec.com
  - JStamp/SaJe/JStik by Systronix http://jstamp.systronix.com,
				     http://www.systronix.com/saje/index.html,
				     http://jstik.systronix.com/

for a total of 12 candidates. PXROS and uC/OS-II were included in the
list even though they were listed as "under development" because of their
mention elsewhere in the Infineon literature on TriCore.

Of course, this list is derived mostly from those vendors who have a
cooperative agreement with Altium, rather than from an attempt to perform
an exhaustive search for all possible candidates that support the TriCore
architecture. Since the list strikes me a sufficiently large and
inclusive, I am not going to concern myself with the fact that a few
possible candidates may be missing. We have time constraints and this list
strikes me as sufficient for our purpose.
