At their own initiative, Accelerated Technologies
Inc (ATI) has contacted Infineon to discuss cost
sharing for a port of the Nucleus PLUS rtos to
the TC11IB chip. They feel there may be some
commercial benefit to them in doing this port.
If the talks with Infineon are successful, we
would pay an NRE fee only for the development
of the Ethernet driver portion of the port.
The Nucleus port will be to a board-toolset
combination, not to the chip only. This
practice seems to be the standard industry
approach to this issue. The toolset they have
chosen is the Taksing toolset, by Altium.
They will work with us and with our Infineon
rep, Dave Gauthier, in an attempt to insure
that the board chosen for the port is the
same board we have purchased.
We would be responsible for the port to the
board we develop for the MIB. This task may
not be as daunting as it may sound.
The core of the port consists of three assembly
language files. Two of the files are CPU
specific and one is both board and CPU specific,
with the board-specific portion identified
by comments within the code. Our port to a
MIB board would consist of modifying the
board-specific portion of the 1 assembly
language file.
No pricing on the NRE charge is available at
this time. It depends on the outcome of the
talks between ATI & Infineon.
