<div>I have observed some odd behaviour when applying delay calibration solutions. This is ASKAP data that has been correlated with DiFX. The original data was 336x1.185 MHz oversampled channels (channel separation 1.0 MHz) where DiFX has performed fine channelisation and discarded the overlapping regions, ultimately stitching back together a single contiguous 336 MHz AIPS IF. FRING produces good solutions, but when I apply them with CLCAL and then look at the calibrated data, baselines between antennas that originally had relative delays of more than ~100 ns have phases that are flat but 180 degrees. This is a non-closing error: some baseline triangles between 3 antennas of differing delays end up with a closure phase of 180 degrees, while the closure phase of the uncalibrated data is 0. I have attached a minimal example (having cut out a subset of the ASKAP antennas), the FRING SN table is already there (SN table 1) and has been applied with CLCAL (CL table 2) - the result can be seen when plotting visibility phase, which is now 180 degrees on some baselines. It seems like an error deep in AIPS, since the data itself is fine (as can be seen from the uncalibrated data) and the SN table itself is fine, but when the calibration is applied, the calibrated data is wacky. Please advise! Happy to answer questions about the ASKAP data or provide more data if that is useful.<br></div>
