The binary installation is supposed to set up an $LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointing at the "INTELCMP" area with run time libraries that may be missing in systems that are (way) ahead of the RedHat 8 we use at NRAO. To give you an idea of how far back we are the gfortran bundled in RadHat is version 8.5. My NRAO Ubuntu laptop just installed 11.4 and I use 12.2 on our Mac with the Apple M1 chip. I will read the rest of your previous email with interest.
How is Marsfield these days? I lived in Epping for 20 months 2/1990 - 9/1991 wnad worked in the Marsfield CSIRO.
Thanks
Eric

D'oh! I found the bundled libreadline7 shared library in the binary distribution.
So I will go with that.
However hopefully my fumblings with the text install will provide some entertainment.
