[daip] Issue with FLATN (AIPS 2023) {External}

You need to add a line to $SYSUNIX/OPTIMIZE.LIS setting routine name INTERPLATE on MACARM to 0 0 optimization. Then COMRPL $APLOOP/INTERPLATE. The COMLNK/$APGOOP/*.FOR and COMLNK $QPGOOP/*.FOR. Apparently recent gfortran versions do something bad in this collection of routines used in regridding images (FLATN, OGEOM, OHGEO, and more).

Thanks for reporting this.

Subject: [daip] Issue with FLATN (AIPS 2023) {External}

Dear colleague,

I have text installed AIPS 2023 on my Macbook Pro and it’s running smoothly. I am encountering a problem while running the task FLATN. Here I want to interpolate 25 fields into one as I have performed a wide-field imaging (610 MHz data from GMRT telescope in India). The problem is that the task starts but doesn’t finish no matter how long I let take and I need to abort to get the terminal back. The resulting FLATNed image is junk without any intensities.

##

LOCALH> FLATN1: Task FLATN (release of 31DEC23) begins

LOCALH> FLATN1: Create HDFN        .FLATN .   1 (MA)  on disk  1  cno  361

LOCALH> FLATN1: Field     1 included blc,trc   253  2247   773  2767

LOCALH> FLATN1: ZABORS: signal 15 received

LOCALH> FLATN1: ABORT!

I will greatly appreciate any help in this regard.

Thank you.
