Dear AIPS Group,
I am writing to ask for your help in using AIPS. I am a BSC student at ELTE
in Hungary and am currently working on a Scientific Student's Associations
study, for which I would like to read VLA data with AIPS. This is my first
time using the software and I am also new in the field. I have run into a
problem with the calibration of the data.
The data file I've downloaded from https://data.nrao.edu/portal/ has a .exp
extension. Right at the beginning, using 'default FILLM' to calibrate, I
get a message in the AIPS_MSGSRV window that says 'ZTPOPN: DISK DEVICE NOT
FOUND', 'FLDKIO: ERROR 2 OPENING FILE' and 'FILMUV: FILMDAT ERROR 8'. I
have attached screenshots of the AIPS_MSGSRV window.
I started AIPS in the folder where the data file is. I have tried writing
'datain 'PWD:AH972_, to which the message was the same (or saying ZTPOPN:
NO SUCH LOGICAL DEVICE and FLDKIO: ERROR 3 OPENING FILE), or different
possible directory names instead of PWD I have found in instructions but
none of them worked. I assume the problem is that the data directory is not
defined correctly, but I do not know how it should be written. Do you have
any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong?
Thank you so much for your time.
Yours faithfully,
Enikő Pichler
