Do you have no internet connectivity?  Do you wish to write your own
tasks inside AIPS?  The tarball is about 180 Mbytes which is not
appropriate for email.  It also then requires you to compile the
system locally, presumably with gfortran.  The binary installation
(perl install.pl -n) does not require local compilation and is
thus easier.  But you must have internet and the ability to do rsync.
