 Hi Eric,
Thanks for your help.I figured out that BDFLIST need not be used at all since I am using the old VLA data. So ASDM.xml file will never be present. I used FILLM to read data into AIPS.
I have a few questions. Not all these questions are regarding any specific AIPS error. Some are for a basic understanding. My apologies for not opening a new ticket. I was not sure if this should be done. 1. After reading the data into AIPS, when I view scan info using the task 'LISTR', I see a lot of sources in the list. What are these? I am reading through the AIPS cookbook and other online material on data reduction with AIPS but I am finding it difficult to interpret what is going on.
2. In order to flag bad data, which task should be used? Is 'tvflg' more user friendly than using a combination of 'listr', 'uvplt' and 'uvflg'?
3. While launching AIPS, I use aips tv=local. But while calling the task 'uvplt' nothing gets displayed on the UNIX window. It is blank. The terminal simply prints 'AIPS 2: Resumes '.
4. How does one decide which sources should be used for phase and flux calibration?
I'd be grateful if you could direct me to some reading material apart from AIPS cookbook to clarify similar doubts.
Juhi

I am not an expert on OBIT which seems to issue all sorts of incomprehensible messages.  These look sort of familiar and tend to occur when I have not specified ASDMFILE correctly.  Read the help files closely about this variable and look at the BDFLIST.run file that was put in your $HOME area.  The x.DataRoot variable shows how AIPS interpreted that adverb and set the input file for BDFLIST to use.
