I have not looked inside IMERG in some time.  Try HELP IMERG.  The 2nd paragraph of the help text says that the 2 images must agree in all essential parameters such as reference coordinate, reference pixel, axis increments, and pixel size.  The task OHGEO is designed to make one image "look like another" in just this way.  Feed the single dish image as the first input and the large interferometer image as the second in  OHGEO (opposite order from IMERG).  This operation is tricky to get it to come out right in any case but at times the addition of short spacing info really helps.
