I have to ask this - the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for AIPS used to be post-pended rather than prepended.  But late in 2007 issues arose with incompatible Fortran versions at the user's sites and so was changed.  If you construct your LD_LIBRARY_PATH so that the aips one is post-pended, does AIPS work okay?  I guess on our RHEL 7 machines the gfortran supplied with it is an antique (4.8) and the one we use is 6.4 or so.  Running here on my laptop with the order of all things having AIPS last seems to work fine.
Thanks
Eric
