BLAVG is not the simple task that you are assuming. It averages RL and LR and outputs them as RR and LL after much manipulation of phase, "Note that this method of averaging will retain ONLY the relative phase and delay differences between the IFs." is a quote from the explain file. I have been playing with UVRMS some more using UVMOD output with a simple point source model (at 0 and offset a bit) and the results appear to make sense.
Try a single baseline to start with. Averaging baselines with my offset model produced some interesting oddities particularly in phase (the data set is VLBA so only 45 baselines max). When I did a single baseline a simple curve of phase with some noise comes out, averaging all baselines makes a real mess. The 2 plots of UVRMS are crucial - the statistical values only have value in well behaved cases. The CASA task does not do the plots. I am mostly done with the spectral one which makes 2 plots, the mean and standard deviation of the selected OPTYPE.
Glad you solved the MNJ issue.
Eric
