I return to the question why are you compiling locally?The only good reason to do so is if you plane touse or develop additional programs outside thestandard aips.  Even parseltongue can be run onthe binary installation.The include file is found in /usr/include/X11 on my Linux machine.Do you lack such an area?Eric Greisen
