In that previous dataset, you must have had two different sources defined in the SU table, right? One for the bandpass (which had calcode F) and one for the phasecal (which had calcode D). As Eric says, AIPS doesn't assign calcodes to scans, but rather to sources (so your statement that "this procedure fails when all bpass and phasecal scans have CALCODE Z" is not the right way to think about it - scans don't have calcodes).In the current dataset one way to do this would be to set up the bandpass cal scan as a new source. Use task SUFIX for that (specify the time range of that scan). Then use Eric's instructions below to change the calcode for the two sources (from Z to D for the original source; from Z to F for this newly created one).
