Hello! I am a Ph.D. student at Seoul National University in South Korea.I am trying to do some simulations about how much the observed linear polarization is reliable. My idea is to make simulated data by1. converting the CLEAN model to the UV data with the task UVSUB in AIPS2. adding random noise to the created data3. adding D-term errors to the created dataI succeded in the step #1 and I think that the step #3 can be done with the SPLIT and DOPOL = 1 with some artificial D-term values added to the AN table. However, I could not figure out how to add random noise to the data. The created data in the step #1 has zero noise because the data are created from a model.I want to add similar levels of random noise I could find in the real data, say, rms noise of 0.1 mJy/beam.I found that the task UVMOD allows me to add the random noise but I want to know how I can add the random noise of rms = 0.1 mJy/beam.I would be really flattered if you could let me know the procedure.Thank you so much for your help in advance!Best Regards,Jongho Park
