[daip] AIPS Installation Issue

Hello,


It was suggested by Bryan and Eric that I contact this address for AIPS installation queries.


I'm using the wizard to install the 2017 version from binaries using the command;

perl ./install.pl -n .

The installation appears to have been successful with no error messages flagged throughout.


However, when I attempt to run AIPS from the host machine chosen in the installation wizard, as the account which performed the installation, I get the following messages.


Begin the one true AIPS number 1 (release of 31DEC17) at priority =   0
STARTPMON: [SIRIUS] Starting TPMON1 with output SUPPRESSED
AIPS 1: You are not on a local TV device, welcome stranger
AIPS 1: You are assigned TV device/server   3
AIPS 1: You are assigned graphics device/server   3
ZVTPO3: tcp/aipsmt0 is not a service
ZVTPO3: check /etc/services or NIS map!
AIPS 1: Enter user ID number
?

The '?' is not a typo and is present at this point. Here I have tried numbers 1-6, 0 and the magic number, which all lead to the following message.

Please type 'yes' or 'no':

However typing either yes or no causes the program to loop back to asking for an AIPS ID number.

Is there anything you can advise here?
