Hi!
I’m analyzing some data from the Allen Telescope Array, calibrated by SETI Institute using Miriad, written to FITS, which I import to AIPS and continue flagging, image, and so on. It seems to work, which seems like a minor miracle!
But, I don’t understand several AIPS messages and ask your advice on whether they require some action:
1. “FITLD2: WARNING! STOKES VALUES NOT CONVERTED TO NORMAL FORMS” The ATA polarizations are called XX and YY, and AIPS does later recognize them...
2. “UVPLT2: WARNING: uncalibrated linear polarization data may be a problem” Is this a problem? IMAGR issues the same warning, but works. The data were calibrated in Miriad; I leave docalib defaulted to -1 (uncalibrated) because setting it to 1 would make AIPS look for tables that don’t exist; is that appropriate?
3. “UVFLG2: ANREFM: NO ANTENNA OR ARRAY RECOGNIZED” Actually, UVFLG does seem to recognize antennas and flag the ones specified, so the reason for this message is unclear. Is it OK?
Thanks for any advice or comments you can provide! Longer versions of the messages are appended below.
Best wishes,
Bob Gray
