I tried the installation of 31DEC17 from source and encountered two problems.

As expected, XAS failed to build I did cd to $YSERV/ and the compiler was correct.
The problem seems to be the compiler options. To avoid a long line wrap I've added a
small text file to show my make output after a clean in $YSERV.

The actual build from source failed at INSTEP2. The listing of modules that did
not compile listed 114 files ADVERB.FOR to VERSTR.FOR. A common error I
saw reported to the screen was also a compiler option. I will paste that in now:

f951: error: unrecognized command line option "-Wmaybe-uninitialized"

That looks like the only error on the fortran compilaiton that a scroll
through the output reveals to my eyes.

My gcc/gfortran version is 4.4.7.

If it is helpful to know this, install.pl successfully updated the three *.SH files via
screen #10.

Thank you,

Bob Zavala
