Sorry if this is a repost... I can't now see the reply I posted here a minute ago.

I can now start aips, but I get a few messages like:

AIPS1: ZERROR: ON FILE DA00:SPD000000;
AIPS1: ZERROR: IN ZDAoPN ERRNO = 13 (Permission denied)

...for the record I am in group aipsuser.
